Music and Society

This is a continuation of the previous post.
Another form of musical expression is in the area of performance arts. This can come in the form of theatrical productions, opera and things such as ballet. Again certain arts can be liked with a social lifestyle, once again linking music back to society. For years music has been a huge part of the performing arts. Mostly all performance arts involve some sort of audio enhancement to go with a visual art. This again as in things such as films shows the power that the sense of hearing and music has.
Music is a commodity and something that people take for granted. In a business sense, music is, regardless of free will and expression, a mass product, that like any other has a huge affect on record companies, songwriters, musicians and anyone involved in the profits. Things such as sponsorship advertise music even further and involve artists themselves which is another factor in how celebrities create cults. By being associated with a certain brand, a celebrity can create something for fans to physically have to make them feel like they lead a lifestyle more towards their idols. In order to make sure that the business side of things does not take an artist and the music industry for granted, things such as the musicians union and collection societies help fight legal battles within the industry. With out these societies, society itself would be able to acquire and use music completely freely and there would be no music industry left !
